Tacos El Cuñado

Spicy tempeh chorizo tacos served with fresh avocado slices and cilantro.

Tacos El Cuñado at the Downtown Market offers fresh tacos and burritos inside the Downtown Market. This is not just any taco joint though. The offerings at Tacos El Cuñado are as authentic as it gets!

Besides the usual rice and bean fare, you can also get nopales (prickly pear cactus) and spicy tempeh chorizo. Each of these offerings is what makes Tacos El Cuñado stand out from other similar establishments in the city. You can add either of these items to your taco or burrito. Heads up: The tempeh chorizo is definitely for spice lovers!

Other options are fresh avocado, guacamole, cilantro, spicy pickled vegetables (like carrots and onions), carmelized onions,  and pico de gallo. There is also a fresh salsa bar, available for free, that includes a range of salsas to meet every need. There’s also a small section of Latin American grocery items for sale.

One word of caution: The bread used on the tortas contains eggs, so you’ll be wise to avoid those menu items. Everything else (besides the meat of course!) is vegan-friendly.

Tacos El Cuñado serves all their dishes on compostable plates and is diligent about their recycling efforts. That’s just one more reason to go grab a taco now. What are you waiting for?

**Please note, that the only location of Tacos El Cunado we recommend is the location at the Downtown Market. There are other taco stands in the city with the same name, but their food is not vegan-friendly**
